BSA227 - Week 2 | Tracking + Brainstorming
The first part of today's classed we used for talk about our ideas and maybe found other people we can work with for our project. So I'm teaming up with Glenn and Rebekka! And our story is about a little vegan alien that travels to Earth to analyze and find more plants for his ecosystem back home. He finds a very special seed and leaves it in the way because he is fascinated by some lights he finds in the park and people walking by almost step on the seed but he runs to save it and flies back to his planet in his spaceship.
Or something like that.
I will be designing the character, Glenn will design the spaceship and add some effects like rain and Rebekka will take care of the filming. This may vary as we go.
Then we collected lots of references on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.nz/glennfredric/vegalien/
For the second part of the class we followed another tutorial for tracking and making a car explode.
All the clips were provided by our tutor.
So first make sure the Tracking is activated under Window > Tracker. Add the video clip and select Track Camera under Tracker on the right side. It needs a couple of seconds and then the tracking points appear on top of it. It works with triangles, if you want to select a specific area you can select the points manually by holding shift.
Then select an area on the ground and right click and Add Text. The text appears in the same perspective as the floor in the image (so cooool). We can edit the text as normal too.
To get the tracking points on the screen again, select the video clip, click on the Effect Controls and click on 3D Camera Tracker.
To add a shadow behind the text, click on the same area as before, right click and Add Shadow. This can be edit as well by adding lights.
Then for the actual explosion: select the tracking points again and select an area on a car, right click and add a solid. Then select the solid layer and drag the explosion click pressing alt into the solid. The clip is now in that exact point and perspective. This can be edited as normal and what we did was mask the pillar.
Then we added dust and particles as well. This is the final result.
